In this article we explain what these new requirements are all about.Since the start of the year, the rules for the energy labelling of certain product groups (e.g. household washing machines) have changed. Information on energy consumption must be displayed in a specific form near the price – but only if certain criteria are met.
Since the start of the year, the rules for the energy labelling of certain product groups (e.g. household washing machines) have changed. Information on energy consumption must be displayed in a specific form near the price – but only if certain criteria are met.
Which products are affected by the change?
The changes need only be implemented for the product groups below, and only for products that were launched after 01/01/2015 with a new model number. The text of the regulation refers to “new models, including existing models that have been updated”. Provision of the energy data in the new form is therefore not required for older models.
The following product groups are affected:
- Household dishwashers
- Household refrigerators
- Household washing machines
- Televisions
- Air conditioners
- Household tumble driers
- Electric lamps and lights
- Vacuum cleaners
- Room heaters (and similar)
- Water heaters, hot water tanks
What has changed for suppliers?
For models marketed after 01/01/2015 with a new model number, the suppliers from whom you purchase your products for resale must now provide an electronic product data sheet and an electronic label. These are the same energy labels that you may already be familiar with in physical retail stores. Please ask your suppliers for the labels and product data sheets for the products in question.
What has changed for you as a retailer?
For the products named, you must make the label and the product data sheet available at certain places in your shop. From the beginning of February this will be possible in the Administration area of your shop where you will be able to upload both the product data sheet and the energy label for individual products. Both will then be displayed at the place prescribed by law in your shop. You can also define the energy efficiency class for products.More detailed information on this will be provided in this Blog at the beginning of February.
