Mandatory starting in September: legal guarantee notice and GARAN label for your ePages shop

27. July 2026/in Legal issues /by Kristof Maletzke

Starting September 27, 2026, new disclosure requirements will apply to online retailers. For offers made to consumers, information regarding the statutory warranty and, where applicable, a commercial durability guarantee must be provided in the future.

The new information requirements are intended to increase transparency and better inform consumers about their statutory warranty rights as well as any commercial durability guarantee.

ePages Now: the legal guarantee notice and GARAN label in your shop
If you use the ePages Now version, you’ll be able to display both the legal guarantee notice and the GARAN label in your shop before the effective date of September 27, 2026. You’ll find more information on this here soon.

ePages Base: How to configure the settings

The “Legal guarantee notice” page is currently being rolled out to all Base shops and is not yet available in every shop.

Making the “Legal guarantee notice” page available

  1. In the administration area of your shop, navigate to Content/Categories > Datasheet view.
  2. In the last row of the table, enter “Legal guarantee notice” in the Name column and select the Legal guarantee notice option in the Type column. This option is shown at the very bottom of the drop-down menu.
  3. Save.
  4. Select the name of the Legal guarantee notice page in the table.
  5. Under Visible in shop, select the Yes option.
  6. Under Visible in the menu, select the No option.
  7. If you would like to enter your own texts to be displayed above the legal guarantee notice, select Texts and enter the texts.
  8. Save.

Adding a link to the “Legal guarantee notice” page in the footer

  1. Navigate to Design and then Advanced design.
  2. In the footer, select the + icon.
  3. On the left-hand side, select Information pages.
  4. On the right-hand side, select Link to legal guarantee notice. This option is shown at the very bottom of the list.
  5. Select Insert.
  6. Save.

Adding a link to the “Legal guarantee notice” page in the checkout process

  1. In the main menu, select Settings and then Basket settings.
  2. Select Texts.
  3. In the Order step: Check & order field, add a link to the legal guarantee notice page. You can add the link to any of the checkout fields listed.
  4. Save.

Attaching the legal guarantee notice to the notification email sent to your customers

  1. In the main menu, select Settings and then Order document settings.
  2. Select Legal guarantee notice in emails.
  3. Here you can choose which emails and order documents the legal guarantee notice should automatically be attached to as a PDF.
  4. Tick the checkbox for the email notification Order receipt confirmation.
  5. Save.

The guarantee label (GARAN label) will be available for you to use as part of a later update. Further information will follow here shortly.

ePages Store: How to edit the visibility of the legal guarantee notice page

If you use the ePages Store shop version, you can already make the legal guarantee notice page visible. To do so, simply follow the steps below.

  1. In the sidebar of the cockpit, navigate to Editor. The Editor opens.
  2. Navigate to Pages and scroll down to Legal pages.
  3. Next to the page Legal guarantee notice, select the three dots and then the gear icon. A pop-up opens.
  4. Under Visible in footer, select Yes.
  5. Select Save.

You will be able to use the GARAN label as part of a future update. More information will follow here shortly.

Key facts

  1. The label(s) must be displayed starting September 27, 2026.
  2. Merchants who sell exclusively to businesses (i.e., purely B2B) are not required to display the label(s).
  3. The legal guarantee notice must always be displayed, as merchants are always obligated to consumers under the warranty.
  4. The GARAN label must only be displayed if, in addition to the statutory warranty, a voluntary durability guarantee (whether from the manufacturer or the seller) is also provided for the respective product.
  5. The legal guarantee notice consists of a standardized EU image (including a QR code) that provides a general reminder of consumer rights. According to EU regulations, you cannot modify the design, layout, or visual style of this notice in any way. However, you may add additional text to this legal page to provide further information to your customers.
