ePages YOU
In recent days, it was a bit quiet here in the ePages blog. The reason: Once again it was time for the annual ePages YOU. Most of the ePages employees from the development, marketing, product management and all the other departments came together for three days to discuss the further development of the platform in a number of workshops. A small summary of the event.
Software development is a process that is never complete. Just as the internet is constantly evolving, so does an e-commerce platform as ePages. New technologies are entering the market, old lose importance. The ePages employees keep this in mind and gather once a year to hold the ePages YOU, discussing the current state of the software and the direction in which to evolve the platform. In a number of workshops developers and sales staff requirements deal with the demands of the market and its players – the hosting service providers, the implementation partners and especially the end customers. What features are needed for successful e-commerce and in what order should we develop our software?
Smartphones and touch pads are one of the major trends of the last time and will take a huge market share from the traditional browser. High time to take account of this development and to adapt the usability concepts of the ePages platform to the needs of small, touch-sensitive displays. Prerequisite: The switch to HTML5 technologies and the liberation of the limitations of Adobe Flash which is still not optimally implemented on these devices. In the coming months we will start working in this field.
There was also some interesting discussions there on the question of how the development of the platform and thereby specifically the development of the cartridges can be optimized. From the implementation of improved development processes to the establishment of an open development platform, different approaches have been thought through. Even if we can tell no internals at this point, we hope to accelerate these processes in the future.
The same applies to the faster roll out of new versions at our ePages providers. While the new roll-out process that was implemented about half a year ago shows some promising results, we are eager not to stop the optimization process. Our goal: Bring our end users the benefits of new versions and improvements more quickly and regulary.
All in all, it was again an exciting event, which has given important impulses for the development of the ePages e-commerce platform. One of the highlights: The first hand insights from our end customer Maxim Grübel (Profi-Faltzelt.de) from the daily life of a Strato-shop owner. Impressed by his knowledge of search engine optimization, we are especially glad to have him on board as guest writers for the ePages blog. Look forward to exciting contributions. For a first impression, see his blog. (seopinion.de)
