“The ePages academy’s worth it”: interview with Sommerlatschen merchant Andreas Bohn
The ePages academy, for the first time, will be held in London and is open to all British merchants. The event, that will take place on May the 9th, will offer a day full of practical tips and improvements for your online shop. The first series of the ePages academy events took place last autumn in a total of five locations in Germany. This year the ePages academy will repeat the experience by coming back to ten German cities and celebrating the premiere in London.
Andreas Bohn, one of the attendees last year, has explained to us his experience of the event and why he is coming back again this year. His business sommerlatschen.de, focused on handmade summer shoes from Spain, was founded in 2007 and has grown up to 3 employees.
During his time at the ePages academy in Berlin, online retailers received practical tips on how to grow a successful online business: “The ePages academy helped me to be up-to-date and to establish good networks within the event – that has worked out for me!” says Andreas Bohn.
“My expectations about the ePages academy were absolutely satisfied. At that time, our online shop was successful in the niche of “espadrilles summer sandals”, but the design had not been updated for seven years. Besides, we also planned an expansion of our store so we needed an update on other topics as well”.
Together with numerous lectures about shop optimisation, SEO, law and design, the individual discussions during the speed-coachings were especially helpful for Mr. Bohn: “The ePages experts showed me which parts of my online shop have more potential and gave me valuable advice about how to improve it together with the ePages Design Services team. Now, our online shop looks fresh and summery.”
Although the success of Andreas Bohn’s business will emerge as of the next summer season, he has already enjoyed many advantages. “The academy has placed the basis for us to better find our customers on the internet. We now offer our visitors more content on the home page, duplicate product descriptions are now replaced by individual texts and we have more appealing product pictures. This has brought us in the Google results page from the 26th to the 4th ranking place for the keyword “espadrilles” in Germany. Our store ratings have really gone up. And we also refreshed our knowledge regarding payment methods, paymentterms and legal conditions. Now the season can finally start!”
This year changes in consumer law are also a main subject of the ePages academy. A legal expert from Trusted Shops, Naveen Aricatt, will explain in a presentation which ways are the best to customise and adapt your online store to the new consumer law.
