Marketing for Product Versions – Advertising via “From Prices”

16. June 2010/0 Comments/in Products /by Volker Schwarz

“Less is more” can be a wise approach regarding romance and sales alike. One such example: “From prices”. They allow you to attract customers by means of the lowest price for a given product version. This is made possible by a function which made its debut in ePages 6.08: supplementary texts for product versions. The ePages blog will describe how to proceed.

“From prices” offer a good opportunity to advertise a product version by emphasizing its lowest available price. You can thus draw attention to detail pages for products which your customers otherwise might not read about. In turn, you can boost your sales while purposefully and considerably reducing stock levels.

If you would like to use this feature, please check whether it is already in your ePages shop system. For this feature’s basic setting, access the “Products / Product settings” menu item.

Via the “General” tab, you can specify for each of the languages activated in your shop which supplementary text (if any) will appear before the lowest price.

Now use the Version Assistant to create a new product version. For details, please read this article in the ePages blog.

Of course, you can also opt to correspondingly modify an existing product version. First click on the "mother product" entry in the product overview and then, via the “General” tab, specify its list price. This price will then be associated automatically with every product version for which no unique price has been specified. In order to specify individual prices for different versions, save and then click on the “Versions” tab.

Click on the list’s entries corresponding to those products for which you wish to specify prices individually. Via the “General” tab, you can activate the “Own price” feature and indicate a new price.

Repeat these steps for all those product versions which should be priced differently than the respective mother product.

Last but not least, you must simply label the product with the lowest price as “Default”. Displayed to your customers as a reference product in the product overview , it will include the supplementary text “From xx euros”.
