One of the most touching presentations at the Bucerius Law School was held by Alyssa Jade McDonald-Bärtl, founder and social entrepreneur of the online business blysschocolate.com. She revealed the passion that drives entrepreneurs to invest their savings in an online business and invited all service providers to walk in their shoes to understand the difficulties they have to deal with on a daily basis. “This is not only a job. This is a purpose. This is our mission. And if we fail, it cuts deep into our hearts” said Alyssa. Therefore, she emphasised that merchants need to be educated by the e-commerce service providers and seek their advice and expertise to help them through the learning process of how to update and improve their online businesses.
In that sense, companies such as Names.co (UK), Vilkas (Finland) and Amen (Portugal) focused their presentation on showing support and training services that are providing help and education to their merchants for managing their shop software and growing their online business. Examples were educational webinars, consulting calls and events like the upcoming ePages academy in London on October 10th.
A special mention goes to Michael Trautmann and his presentation about his dotHIV project. A new ending domain (.hiv), the digital Red Ribbon, designed with a unique social cause: the end of AIDS. How does it work? For each company that registers the .hiv domain and for each click on the new company domain, the project will receive a little donation for the fight against AIDS. Over the next few days, ePages will also have its own .hiv domain up and running. Check the dotHIV website to learn more about this project.
The Commerce Summit was a unique framework to bring together and meet the e-commerce industry experts. The audience did not only follow all panels and keynotes with great interest but also had the opportunity to network during the event and at the after event party. In the words of our CEO, Wilfried Beeck: “This event has been all about the success of all Small & Medium Businesses and all the presentations have given us impulse and motivation for future developments”.
