Feature news May 2024: AI for product descriptions and much more
ePages online shops are constantly being expanded with new features, extensions and integrations that bring many advantages for you as a retailer: These features simplify working with your shop, offer you new design options, increase user-friendliness for your customers and more.
In this article, we have summarised the most important new features of the last months for you. We hope you enjoy trying them out!

AI-generated product descriptions
Everyone is talking about artificial intelligence. AI technology offers unimagined possibilities for online retailers. That’s why ePages is working on innovative functions that were completely unthinkable just a year and a half ago. One of these features now available in ePages shops is our AI-generated product descriptions.
For many online retailers, writing product descriptions is one of the most unpopular tasks when maintaining their shop. Not everyone finds it easy to present their products in the best light. In addition, writing these texts takes a lot of time.
This new feature of the ePages software provides a remedy. In the administration area of your shop, you can now create appealing descriptions of your products in a matter of seconds. All you have to do is enter a few keywords – the AI takes care of the rest. If you don’t like the text created, you can create a new one at the touch of a button.
Deposit for products
This improvement is helpful if you sell products where the customer has to pay a deposit in addition to the product price. This is often the case with drinks in particular. The deposit is listed separately in your shop and on order documents.
New social media links in the footer
Are you active with your shop on social media such as Instagram or Facebook? Then you have been able to link your social media profiles in the footer of your shop for some time now. From now on, you also have the option of adding links to TikTok, WhatsApp and LinkedIn. This makes it even easier for you to reach your target audience and build a loyal customer base.
Order units for your products
For most products sold online, the order unit is ‘piece’. However, there are also goods that are not sold by the piece, but in units such as metres, millilitres or kilograms. In response to feedback from merchants, we have added a new feature that allows you to specify which type of unit can be used for which products.
Icons with text
We’ve also created a new content element, “Icon with text”. This allows you to display an icon and text below it. Our icon library contains hundreds of icons on a wide variety of topics. With this, you can display content clearly and attractively.
Link USPs in the shop header
ePages merchants already had the option of displaying their unique selling points (USPs) and other information at the top of their shop – for example, voucher codes or a reference to free delivery. These USPs can now also contain links to direct your customers to other subpages of your shop that contain more information on these points. For example, if you indicate in the header that you only sell sustainable products, you can now link this USP to a page with details on this topic.
PayPal Checkout: Mobile payment via Google Pay and Apple Pay
Since last year, ePages merchants have been able to use PayPal Checkout as a payment solution. This allows a wide range of payment methods to be offered from a single source – including direct debit, credit/debit card as well as more than ten local payment methods in different currencies. And now even more: Google Pay and Apple Pay are available as two additional payment methods. These are particularly popular with customers who shop with their smartphone.

Animations for content elements
Animating content elements creates a more dynamic and engaging shopping experience. You can easily animate content elements in the live preview of the editor, which are then displayed seamlessly as the customer scrolls down your pages.
Label for new products
If you add new products to your shop and want to draw your customers’ attention to them, you can now alert customers with a small label with the text ‘NEW’ that is displayed in the first product image. So that you don’t always have to keep track of which products are displayed as new, you can enter the date on which the labelling should be automatically removed for each product.
New design templates for your shop
The basis of the design of every ePages shop are the design templates that you can select in the editor. We have added three new templates to give you even more options for the shop design.
Content element for frequently asked questions
Answering questions from customers can take a lot of time for online retailers. It’s a crucial part of the sales process to answer the customer’s questions as soon as possible and can be the deciding factor in whether the customer places an order or not.
To make it even easier for you to answer frequently asked questions, there is a new content element for FAQs in ePages shops. With this element, you can present the questions and answers to your customers in a particularly simple and clear way.
Personalisation of products
Custom and personalised products continue to be a popular trend among online merchants. ePages now offers an additional text field for selected products, enabling customers to personalise their purchases and create unique items. For example, if you sell mugs in your shop, customers can enter a name to be engraved on the mug directly when ordering.
